Let me first take a moment to welcome you, visitor, to the Nocturnal Embraces forums. Our aim is to become a small but friendly community of vampires; sanguine, psychic or hybrid, and to provide a friendly, warm atmosphere in which discussions and debates may take place securely and respectfully.
My aim when creating this community was to build from scratch a place where newly awakened vampires may come to learn more about themselves and to talk openly with others of their kind without fear of discrimination, name calling or flaming.
We do not seek to tell a person that they are wrong, or call someone fake or liar on the simple grounds that what they say doesn't quite tally with what one or more persons believe. But we seek to offer them advice and knowledge and to encourage them to search within themselves to seek the truth within.
There are of course some things which we will not tolerate; the main one being role playing, since we are not a role playing community. Defining a role player is usually easy to do, although occasionally someone will come along with a genuine concern that seems at first glance to be the beginnings of a malicious game. That said, the following topics mentioned in a post are likely to receive a stern warning - claims of immortality, claims of resurrection/un-death, claims of superhuman feats or powers (flight, extreme strength, etc), vampire hunters, vampire wars, werewolf wars, draining a 'victim' to death, and physical transformations. There may be a few more, but these will be added to the list as they are discovered.
We will also not consider discussions of a violent nature that condone or imply the condoning of unethical activities; for example malicious psychic 'attacks', physical attacks, murder/killing, or anything else that goes against our code of conduct.
As far as what we do aim to offer:
We would like to become a community that is know for its tolerance towards newly awakened vampires, giving advice and offering support for those of us going through difficult periods or who are still searching for answers in the internal quest to work out just who and what we are. We would like to encourage discussions on various aspects of vampirism, from what it means to us in daily life, to techniques for finding a donor, and feeding etc.
We do not wish to become a 'business only' community whose entire focus revolves solely around vampirism and its practice, but a community that forges true bonds of friendship between its members, where said members are comfortable talking about a range of discussions on various events, topics and activities and can do so in a friendly, respectful manner.
We wish to become known as a safe haven for the newly awakened and veteran vampire alike, and to be seen as an informative, friendly community. We wish to introduce some level of formality to our ranks with regards to a code of conduct and a stepping ladder up which newly awakened vampires can climb in order to become part of a strong and worthwhile community. I know that some vampires in the online community would view such a take as wrong, or discouraging, but I feel that such a ladder would offer new vampires some motivation to develop their skills and their knowledge in order to fully harness their potential and to understand and question themselves and their nature instead of simply signing up to be part of a discussion group and then not bothering to try and develop or learn more. This may also, hopefully, discourage the role players who join such communities simply to cause havoc amongst the ranks or to make themselves feel important.
We are open to donors as well as vampires, and will not discriminate against people for their personal or religious views. However we would ask that topics such as religion be kept as personal matter for each individual vampire and not dragged into the forums to encourage fighting and flaming. People seem to go all defensive when it comes to issues like religion and we do not wish to encourage nasty behaviours within our boards.
We seek, as I have said, to create a small, friendly community for psi, sang and hybrid vampires where strong friendships can be forged, questions asked without fear or angry rebuttals, and useful advice be given.
If you wish to find out more about us, please feel free to contact myself (Valentine Dubois) or to sign up and leave a question on the forums.
I look forwards to seeing people around.
Regards,
Valentine Dubois.
